SUPER BOWL XLVI MVP ELI MANNING AMONG THE BEST QBS OF ALL-TIME

POSTED BY DAVID KINDERVATER

It's already been established that Eli Manning is an elite NFL quarterback. That argument has come and gone. Now, it's time to start talking about him as one of the best quarterbacks of all-time.

Really.

Manning won his second world championship and second Super Bowl MVP award Sunday night as the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots 21-17 in Super Bowl XLVI to claim their fourth Super Bowl title.

Manning was an impressive 20-of-30 passing for 296 yards and a touchdown—with no interceptions.

In the process of leading the Giants to their second Super Bowl victory in five years, Manning cemented himself as one of the top clutch performers in Super Bowl history. In fact, only three quarterbacks ever have led their team to two 4th quarter comeback Super Bowl wins—Tom Brady, Terry Bradshaw and now Eli Manning.

It was the same old story. The Giants needed to come from behind to win.

Enter Eli Manning. Been there, done that.

Down by two points with less than four minutes to play in Super Bowl XLVI, Manning took his team 88 yards in nine plays for the go-ahead touchdown.

I can't say I was surprised. Manning led the Giants to six come from behind, game-winning 4th quarter drives during the 2011 regular season. And don't forget Super Bowl XLII. The year was 2008. The teams the same—Giants vs. Patriots.

An extraordinary quarterback can do it once. A truly exceptional quarterback does it again.

And while it might be premature to start talking about Manning and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, think about this—only 11 quarterbacks in the history of the game have won multiple Super Bowls. Eli Manning is one of them. He's also in a small group of only five players to win multiple Super Bowl MVP awards.

Just sayin'.

In fact, Eli Manning is as good as it gets in the National Football League. And at 31 years old, it appears his career is far from over.

I'm not predicting he'll win more Super Bowls. I'm not even saying he'll get back to the Super Bowl. It doesn't matter. If his career ended today, his accomplishments are already impressive enough to call him one of the best to ever play the game.
