School of the Legends Experiences Membership Explosion

01/23/2012 4 mons ago

With national TV campaigns, featuring such NFL legends as Barry Sanders, Ray Lewis, Jerome Bettis, Deion Sanders, Chris Johnson and Cortland Finnegan, running throughout the playoffs and Kansas City Chiefs star receiver Dwayne Bowe recently taking over the SOTLNFL Facebook page, School of the Legends is seemingly everywhere in the media these days. And nowhere is that notoriety being felt more than in the website’s membership numbers.

School of the Legends offers fans free membership to its unique online football community. On January 13, 2012, SOTL had its 100,000th member sign up for the site. A mere 10 days later, that number has already swelled to 135,000—and counting.

Chief Marketing Officer Mike Schatz believes the growth is due to SOTL’s unique ability to connect fans with NFL players.

“There’s no better fan experience than to actually be able to meet your heroes and interact with them,” Schatz said. “And we’re the only place where you can connect with, literally, thousands of current and former NFL players.”

Schatz added that talking to NFL players gives fans an inside scoop on the game itself—an insight that often finds its way into more competitive fan chatter.

“It’s definitely the best place to go if you want to authoritize your smack!” Schatz laughed.
